NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING AND INDUSTRIAL SAFETY INSPECTION

Non-Destructive Testing and Industrial Safety Inspection Division (Technical Division 9) belongs to Quality Assurance and Testing Centre 2 (QUATEST 2) providing safety testing services licensed by Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs according to Decision No. 260/QĐ-ATLĐ dated July 7, 2015 to perform the safety inspection of machines, equipments, materials and substances subject to strict occupational safety, health requirements (regulated in Circular No. 53/2016/TT-BLĐTBXH dated December 28, 2016).
During the operation of the safety inspection, with the great effort of the safety inspectors and experienced specialists in all fields, QUATEST 2 firmly affirms the brand image and service quality to large and small enterprises in the country. We enable you to identify equipment safety hazards causing harm or damage to people, property and the environment.

List of inspection criteria

A / Penetrant testing (PT)
Penetrant testing (PT) or Liquid penetrant testing (LPI) can only be used to detect flaws on the surface of materials. This method can be applied to all materials except foams. This is one of the simplest, low-cost and efficient non-destructive testing methods.

The testing process can be broken down into the following steps:
• The surface must be free of oil, grease, water, or other contaminants that could be block the opening of the flaw.
• The penetrant is applied to the test sample by spraying the part in a penetrant bath. The penetrant comes in two types of liquids-visible dye (colored red) and fluorescent dye (colored green-yellow).
• The liquid penetrant is left on the surface for 10 minutes to allow the liquid to seep into any surface openings or defects.
• The excess liquid penetrant is carefully removed from the surface with a solvent (solvent-removable) to avoid removing any of the captured penetrant from the flaw or defect.
• A thin layer of developer is then applied to the sample to draw penetrant trapped in flaws back to the surface where it will be visible.
• Indications must be viewed under darkened conditions with a high-intensity UV lamp or black light. The sample will be accepted or rejected based on the specification or acceptance criteria followed.
• Cleaning the surface of the sample to remove any penetrant testing residues.

B/ Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Magnetic Particle Testing is one of the NDT methods, applied to detect flaws in welds, heat affected zones, cracks, penetration, …
Magnetic Particle Testing is conducted under :
+ white lighting conditions or adequate lighting;
+ darkened conditions with ultra violet lighting (UV).
Basis steps for Magnetic Particle Testing:
• The surface must be free of oil, grease, water, or other contaminants that could be block the opening of the flaw.
• Dry powder or wet method or fluorescent is applied to the surface of test sample.
• To put the magnet on the test part, based on the magnetic field strength to detect surface defects of the metal.

C/ Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ultrasonic testing applied to detect flaws in metal welds (plates, pipes … is from 6 mm to 100 mm in thickness, steel pipes have an internal diameter of 100 mm and more) and evaluate defects in welded joints.

The rating is adjusted to the distance-amplitude curve (DAC) range, any lower signal can be ignored, even higher it must be considered in accordance with the Welding Inspection Acceptance Standard.

D/ Radiographic Testing (RT)

By utilizing either X-rays or gamma rays passing through objects to be examined. The beam of radiation is reduced in energy when passing through the object, the degree of attenuation of the beam depends on the type of materials (light or heavy) and their thickness. Then, placing the film on the back of the test item that will appear images taken on the film. Based on the image taken, determining the size, shape and location of the defects in the test item according to respective acceptance standards.
The radiographic method show reliability of test results, test data can be saved. However, this method does not detemine the depth of defects. The method also has the potential to cause exposure to radiation when performed on site, often interrupting other works.

E/ Construction technical and quality inspection

Testing of the load-bearing structures of products, works depends on types of products, objects such as: trusses, antenna columns … that applied to appropriate technical testing methods according to Vietnam standards (TCVN), other equivalent standards or enterprise standards required by customers.
