Is it autumn in Hanoi – To Nhu Chau, Tran Quang Loc
“ Have the leaves fallen yellow yet in August
From The way people miss you silently
Are you the autumn of Hanoi
In the age of wind and dew, I still try to find…”.
“Are you the autumn of Hanoi” was originally a 320-word poem by poet To Nhu Chau composed in August 1970 in Da Nang. The author composed this poem based on inspiration. about the image of Northern immigrant girls at that time with their hair down and swearing at the piano. According to the poet, he was very fond of Northern immigrant girls at that time and dreamed about Hanoi’s autumn of them followed him into the poem of the Autumn fog even though it was just an imagination.
Meeting again, musician Tran Quang Loc poet To Nhu Chau when he was still a student at the National School Music Saigon returns home for summer vacation. When meeting again, To Nhu Chau boasted that she had just composed a poem about Hanoi. After reading the poem, the musician surnamed Tran felt a sense of sympathy creeping into his heart. And he started working on setting music for the poem right after that. The musician Tran has “condensed” the most “expensive” poems into a beautiful melody with a natural rhythm and a lot of fantasy. The melodies blend with the lyrics and the format is always in the listener’s unconscious mind with verses that are easy to absorb. In 1972, this song was officially released and was first performed by famous female singer Thai Thanh. This song was later also performed by singer Hong Nhung Thu Phuong and many other singers.
Remembering the autumn of Hanoi” – Trinh Cong Son
< p>“Hanoi in autumn, golden rice plants
Almond trees with red leaves lie next to each other
Old streets, ancient houses with dark brown tiled roofs
Hanoi autumn, autumn in Hanoi…”
The late musician Trinh Cong Son once shared about the circumstances of the birth of the song “Remembering the autumn of Hanoi”: “In 1985, I and three colleagues were appointed by the Ministry Culture The Soviet Union invited me to visit. When I returned, I stayed in Hanoi for a month. Every morning, Thai Ba Van (an art critic) went around Hanoi to meet friends also went to West Lake, lay by the lake with a bottle of Ararat, drinking it and watching the flock of ginseng land and fly up.
This musical work was born in a month of “love dreams” of musician Trinh. The song’s main inspiration is nostalgia when the budding love between land and people had to be separated. The song is present in most music lists of Hanoi lovers. There have been many vocalists who performed this song, but perhaps Hong Nhung was the one who performed it most successfully. Her voice makes those who are far from Hanoi flutter with nostalgia… about a Hanoi with many typical Autumn colors.
“Autumn Hanoi” – Vu Thanh
“… Can you hear it in the depths of my heart?
Autumn Hanoi flutters in my heart
As if wistfully listening to the wind
Echoing in the middle of Ba Dinh…”
Musician Vu Thanh was born in 1933 in Tu Liem – Ha Noi. In early 1980, with the situation of a unified country, he thought back to all the past days and at some point the musician suddenly encountered the autumn of Hanoi. The autumn of love, nostalgia and even personal feelings of memories of a bygone era. From that feeling, the song “Autumn Hanoi” was born and quickly became an immortal work about Hanoi’s autumn.
Hanoi autumn in this song just Both concrete and abstract, both historical and modern, sparkling with the future. It is a “new Autumn” that no longer has smoke, fire or bombs, but is filled with thoughts of sadness and affection: “Do you hear/In the depths of my heart/Hanoi in Autumn is fluttering in my heart/Like Wistfully listening to the wind echoing in the middle of Ba Dinh…”
“Hanoi Autumn Song” – Trinh Cong Son
“… Because autumn I stay
Hanoi autumn Hanoi autumn
Hanoi autumn full of nostalgia
Not because of you or because of you
Hanoi in autumn Hanoi wind…”
Is one of two famous compositions written about Hanoi’s autumn by the late musician Trinh Cong Son. “Hanoi Autumn Song” was composed by musician Trinh in 1995 and has a gentle and warm look similar to the quiet rhythm of life in Hanoi. If in “Remember Hanoi’s Autumn” the author expressed his vibrations before the beautiful natural scenery with colorful images of Hanoi’s autumn, then in this song the image of the thousand-year-old city is another. “autumn is full of nostalgia”.
“Windy night in Hanoi” – Chu Lai Trong Dai
“…Hanoi! Remembering the fall of October
Green student shirts and tamarind lines
Hanoi! I will never forget
Hanoi! In my heart…”
In 1993, for the first time, the song “Windy Night in Hanoi” was performed through the voice of singer Tuyet Tuyet in a play of the same name by writer Chu Lai, performed by the Hanoi Drama Theater at the Workers’ Theater – Hanoi.
Although it is a work written specifically for The play and song “Hanoi’s windy night” by musician Trong Dai with its deep lyrical tone quickly reached music lovers across the country
The song has a lyrical melody imbued with deep affection for the capital and has become an immortal piece of Vietnamese music. It was an autumn afternoon when the wind blew through the streets with bright yellow and pink sunshine “smile” is the resounding cry of the street vendors, it is “green student shirts with rows of tamarind” and especially “loneliness falling in the deserted alley” – a poetic image that leaves an impression for anyone who has ever been attached to Hanoi.
This is also one of the songs that marked My Linh’s name in the 90s until now. Even now, when mentioning this song, people still think of a young My Linh with short hair surrounded by students who love a beautiful voice. In addition to the love for Hanoi, praising the beauty of Hanoi in the changing seasons, Hanoi’s windy nights are also memories of the beloved school years of the white shirt era with the most beautiful images that have ever appeared in a Vietnamese music video clip.
“Milk flower” – Hong Dang
“… Memories of the past are still somewhere
p>
Friends sharing the same small streets
Milk flowers are still sweet on the street at night
Could it be that I forgot you, could it be that…”
First appearance in series film Hanoi bird nesting season by female director Duc Hoan in 1978 “Milk flower” was quickly found own place in musical life. The lyrics talk about the separation of lovers and a young woman’s longing for her lover, but every time the line “Milk flowers are still sweet in the street at night” sounds, listeners often immediately think of autumn. Noi because only autumn in Hanoi has the passionate scent of milk flowers – a characteristic that cannot be found anywhere else. That’s why “Milk Flower” by musician Hong Dang forever lives in the subconscious of Vietnamese music lovers as one of the best songs about autumn in Hanoi. People’s Artist Le Dung was the first to perform this song, but in the 90s “Milk Flower” became better known to the audience through the voice of female singer Thanh Lam.
“It’s not because of the season thu” – Phu Quang
“…What kind of lullaby do you give me
A life of passion, a life of storm
You What kind of lullaby can you give us when the days are gone?
The song that sings suddenly stops halfway
Stop singing the lullaby, don’t worry
A lot of leaves are falling It’s not because of autumn…”
The song was composed by musician Phu Quang in 1976 and written for his first lover in Saigon based on the poetry in poem “Quiet” by poet Giang Van. However, it took 10 years after its birth for this musical work to reach the public. The autumn in the song is beautiful but sad. Falling yellow leaves are a symbol of autumn, but sometimes the falling yellow leaves are not because every season of autumn has its own meaning, that’s why there is “A lot of falling leaves, not because of autumn”. Phu Quang is like that. In its deep sadness, it still shines with faith and love in life, urging people to try to find the gaps in their souls to fill them with strong faith.
< strong>“The scent of jade orchids” – Mr. Quan Duong Thu
“ The corner of the street where I met
The jade orchid branches spread their shade
Too fragrant scent.
Tell you about the sad last day of autumn…”
Mr. Quan confided as did other Hanoi people. Fall is always very special to me because it is the most beautiful season of the year. Autumn has a great impact on people’s psychology and emotions, especially for artists like him.
There is something special about these creations. His writing about Hanoi…no word is Hanoi. But when the audience listens and feels it, they see that these are songs written about Hanoi because the most characteristic features of Hanoi are included in the songs.
“I could tell right away that it was the song “Perfume of Ngoc Lan”. Nowhere else are there street corners with jade orchid trees and the typical scent of orchids like Hanoi. Those are the very unique features of Hanoi, it brings the breath of Hanoi’s autumn.”
“Pearl Fragrance” was composed by Anh Quan – Duong Thu. in My Linh’s album “Short Hair” released in 2000. The song is the story of a girl conversing with her lover on a street corner in late autumn afternoon. It is a commemorative street corner filled with the smell of jade orchids, a very typical scent of autumn and Hanoi. The song has been reinterpreted by many young singers in many different versions, but the one that touches people’s hearts the most is still the version associated with My Linh’s voice.
“Silent Hanoi Night ” – Pham Thi Ngoc Lien Phu Quang
“… Only the passionate scent of milk flowers remains in the small room
The cold, misty moonlit late autumn night
p>
Only the silence of the late night city remains
The deep fragrant night space…”
“Silence of the Ha night Noi” is a famous poem by Pham Thi Ngoc Lien published in the poetry collection “Waking until morning and dreaming” in 2004. This poetry collection was also awarded by the Ho Chi Minh City Writers’ Association. Musician Phu Quang set this poem to music when he found “numbing” sympathy from the last verses of the poem. He asked poet Pham Thi Ngoc Lien for permission to change the word “innocent” to “naïve” while retaining the original lyrics.
Milk flower long ago has become a signature scent of Hanoi, but the clearest, most “passionate” sense of that scent is probably at night. At that time, the streets had retreated into silence and people had shaken off all their daily worries to face themselves. In the “deep fragrant night space” we clearly hear “the sound of night birds anxiously echoing” or is it the sound of a girl’s sobbing heart remembering the memories of her first love? In that “cold, foggy” late autumn moonlight, the girl seemed to see through her soul to recognize a profound Hanoi at night.
Hanoi at night Why is it so quiet and lonely? Or in the eyes of that nostalgic girl, everything is suddenly empty and lonely, “rows of trees on street corners look at each other innocently” as if she is alone. Ngoc Tan Thanh Lam Ngoc Anh Phuong Anh came to “Silent Hanoi Night” to express his feelings.
“Passionate Hanoi” – Nguyen Duc Cuong
“… Take me through the ups and downs of the fading years
Call the names of each old town, the fading afternoon, shimmering Hoan Kiem Lake
Sweet milk flowers fragrant
Calling autumn back for a long time so we can know the passion…”
Nguyen Duc Cuong shared that this song was written about in 2007. That day, he had just graduated from school and formed a group to perform in the provinces. “We often come home very late. Once we arrived in Hanoi at dusk. At that time, I was very tired, but seeing a peaceful Hanoi moving into a new day, I forgot all about my fatigue. The weather at that time was cold and autumn, so the elderly and children began to go to the streets to exercise. I just write down whatever I see,” Duc Cuong confided.
The unplugged rock style song mixed with R&B is an honest look but no less. A romantic part about contemporary Hanoi. A “gentle and warm Hanoi” with colorful streets and fading afternoon lights. Hoan Kiem Lake shimmers with people rushing to eat at a roadside restaurant… easily. to young people because that is what they are living and experiencing every day.
“Cuong writes with the feelings of a young person, so he is very optimistic. Everything happening around life is fresh, so I wanted to write a song about Hanoi with a positive outlook towards further development. And even though Hanoi is in a position of integration, it still has an ancient culture and still retains its poetic and romantic street corners” shared Nguyen Duc Cuong. The song was once successfully performed by Hoang Hai.
