Brilliant Ashes </em >adapted from two short stories Brilliant Ashes and Rotten Firewood about by writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu. The work tells the story of three women: Hau (Bao Ngoc Doling), Nhan (Phuong Anh Dao) and Loan Khuong (Merited Artist Hanh Thuy).

Director Bui Thac Chuyen died 2 years of writing the script and 5 years of preparing for the film with many field trips to the West to find staging materials and contexts.
Director Bui Thac Chuyen went to Ca Mau many times to research. integrate into the lives of indigenous people. “There were times when I followed a fishing boat until 3 a.m. to get to the dock. I spent the whole day floating at sea but it was fun,” the director once confided.
