Chess king Carlsen wins Generation Cup 2022

On day one of the final on the evening of September 24, Carlsen won the first two games, before drawing the third game. On the second day of the final on the evening of September 25, Carlsen continued to win the first two games. The Norwegian player won the championship early with 5 games, because if Erigaisi won the remaining two games, he would lose overall.

After setting a score record in the Generations Cup group stage (34 points) , Carlsen won the fastest final in Champions Chess Tour history.

In 28 games at Generation Cup 2022 Carlsen won 19, drew 7 and lost 2. One of Those two lost games were because he boycotted player Hans Niemann suspected of cheating in the group stage when the Norwegian “King of Chess” only made one move and then pressed the surrender button.

The only person who won was Carlsen. One game in the tournament was Levon Aronian in the quarterfinals. But in that match, Carlsen won all three games to enter the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Carlsen beat 18-year-old player Vincent Keymer 3-1. Quang Liem also faced Carlsen and lost in the group stage.

The final regular leg of this season of the Champions Chess Tour 2022 takes place from October 14 to October 21. Due to reaching the semi-finals of the Generation Cup, Quang Liem (ranked 4th this season) is guaranteed to be invited to the next stage
