Coach Troussier: “Vietnamese public opinion does not understand collective football”

The head coach of the Vietnamese team, Philippe Troussier, recently went to Japan and met with Cong Phuong. Here, he had an interview with Bunshun newspaper. In it, the French strategist gave his views on football, especially team play.

Coach Troussier said: ” Not only in Japan but in many other places people do not properly understand soccer collective. Nowadays, there are not many coaches pursuing this philosophy. Man City coach Pep Guardiola is one of the few. De Zerbi of Brighton as well. Besides, coach Inzaghi of Inter Postecoglou of Tottenham or Ten Hag of Man Utd are also somewhat similar.

In addition, there are coaches who attach importance to building a team in psychological aspects such as Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool or Moriyasu of Japan. They are the type of coach who values the individual more than the team.

In Vietnam, this is not clearly understood. It is believed that football can make a difference through individual efforts. When the team loses, people will criticize: “Why didn’t the players play at their best?” Why did the other person play so badly?

Of course, fans and media are not team members, so it’s normal for them to react like that. In team and out of team are two world< /a> is different. Therefore, it is difficult for the media to understand teamwork and discipline.

For example, coach Luis Enrique has been heavily criticized. He built a team-based style of play and PSG created a 10-point gap with the second-placed team. But I don’t understand why people are still not satisfied.

It is true that the collective aspect is difficult to be accepted by the media. This is because they want the players to shine as individuals, not as a team. The increasing influence of social networks makes the job of coaches increasingly difficult.

It does not stop there, coach Troussier stated the reason why Vietnamese football must apply collective play. He added: “There are two strategies in football. One is the strategy based on individual brilliance. The players all have their own role. Each person holds a position and can express himself freely.

Another strategy that requires players to follow the team involves organizing smooth coordination and building a relationship between attack and defense. For me, it’s about relying Each individual is not enough. Vietnamese players are lower level than their counterparts in the continent and the world. They are quite weak in terms of experience and physical strength. That’s why I asked the team work based on the team.

Coaches like Moriyasu or Klinsmann all own players from top European clubs, so they have strategies based on the brilliance of individuals and try to create an atmosphere for the players to trust the coach. They require each position to try their best to fulfill their assigned role.

However, neither coach Moriyasu nor Klinsmann Neither requires much teamwork. This is partly because Japanese or Korean players are at a very high level compared to Asia. Coaches are attracted by the talent of their players and find it difficult to demand teamwork from the stars.

I am different. You know how I work. I always try to direct the team towards the collective. For me, collective work is much more important than the value of each player.”
