While staying at home to prevent the epidemic, children cannot go to amusement parks or meet friends but must stay at home. Many parents have bought eggs to hatch into ducks to keep their children company and reduce boredom.
Thanks to the easy way of hatching, ducks being raised as pets has become a trend among people. Families with young children during the epidemic season, including Ms. Nguyen Hong Nghia’s family.
On August 18, Ms. Nghia bought 2 balut eggs to start the journey to welcome the “new member”. Ms. Nghia recorded a “diary” with photos from the first days of incubation.
She put the eggs in a small box wrapped in cloth to keep them warm without using a lamp. After 5-6 days the egg feels warm to the touch. Exactly 12 days after the duck hatched, she heated the lamp for a day and saw that the duck’s feathers were dry and smooth, yellow, and the duck could stand up and walk before turning off the lamp.
After 3 weeks with the appearance of the duck, Ms. Nghia’s family had many more laughs because of Kiu’s sleeping habits...
“Thanks to Kiu, for nearly 3 weeks I haven’t had to wake my daughter up for online classes. Every time at 6:30 a.m. the duck makes a loud noise, Tin wakes up like an alarm clock. Tinh wakes up to let the duck out of the cage to drink water. breakfast” said mother.
The journey of raising the little duck has brought Ms. Nghia’s family a lot of joy during the difficult days. Staying at home to prevent the epidemic also helps her daughter learn more about her love for animals.
Mrs. Nghia and her husband both support their daughter’s desire to raise an animal. The thing she is most happy about is that she loves animals and once said in excitement: “Mom! I didn’t think one day I would be able to raise an animal as cute as this from a young age, thank you mom!”.
