But the number is just a number. The number of candidates who will go to university in 2022 is 49 2%. students officially enroll in university out of the total number of candidates taking the graduation exam in the same year. This year’s admission number is expected to be similar to above.

World Bank’s 2022 report points out Viet South Vietnam has the lowest college and university enrollment rate among East Asian countries in the period 2020-2022.

Vietnam’s post-secondary education enrollment rate in 2019 only reached 28 6 % is lower than comparable countries in the region and compared to the average enrollment rate of 55 1% in upper middle income countries.

Many factors hinder Students’ desire to go to university as the opportunity cost of studying reduces the return on education and the burden of financial costs increases on households…

Failing at university is more difficult than passing, but that’s not something to worry about

Master Pham Thai Son – Center Director Admissions and School Communications Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade – said that now everyone has the ability to enter university. This is also an inevitable general trend in many developed countries in the world >

Going with work Everyone can get into university According to Mr. Son, now it’s important whether the school is suitable for the student’s economic conditions and meets the requirements of the labor market.

Master Son believes that the problem is not the high rate of candidates passing university entrance exams, but the most important issue is students’ jobs after graduation graduate . Universities must ensure this factor to attract learners, otherwise learners will turn away.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen – PhD in education at the University of East Anglia (UK) and former principal of the Canadian International Bilingual School – said the data on the rate of students passing university entrance exams in 2023 from The Ministry of Education and Training proves that getting into university is not difficult for students who have registered for admission. In other words, university entrance standards at many schools are relatively easy.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen When college is for everyone, schools can lower entrance standards. The high rate of students passing the university entrance exam is not the biggest concern. The bigger problem is the quality of training output standards of schools.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen suggested if the Ministry of Education and Training could publicly announce data on dropout rate and graduation rate (number of graduates/number of students fully enroll) graduation standards… of all universities will help society have a more comprehensive view.

Through practical observation, Ms. Huyen believes that many schools Universities have fairly easy graduation requirements for students, which leads to low quality of student output.

“The consequence is many bachelors are not recruited by businesses and have to do jobs that a person with an intermediate vocational college level or even 12/12 can do. This is a big waste for the whole society” Dr. Nguyen Thi Huyen stated. Society compared to other countries in the region and the world Vietnam is a country with a low rate of trained workers, only reaching 26% by the second quarter of 2022.

Orienting learners according to goals Continuously studying and continuously improving labor skills is a must.

However, the current high university admission rate, according to many experts, does not reflect the journey towards quality resources. Along with that, there are a series of factors such as whether students have the conditions to attend university at the current high cost and the quality of training at quality universities when students enter the labor market. …

The number of students is not enough to fill seats at the university, but there are ways to “lure” learners. The number needs to be accompanied by the quality of training to be able to create Only when you have confidence in higher education can you be less worried when… your family members pass the university entrance exam.

You can easily get a place at university, but can you find a place in the labor market? Otherwise, we will become more and more frustrated with the situation that graduates cannot get a job enterprise is still “burning the torch” to find quality personnel.
