Extremely rare pink dolphins suddenly appeared on the coast

After many years of absence, a pair of pink dolphins suddenly reappeared in the sea belongs to Ao Phang Nga National Park, Thailand.

The last time they were known to be here was in 2014. Since this area issued a plastic bag ban on plastic waste in 2017 two extremely rare pink dolphins are back.

Sithuth Tuntean, head of Ao Phang Nga National Park said this is the second time pink dolphins have appeared. He commented that they might come here to look for food because this is an area with a lot of marine life and mangrove forests.

The two pink dolphins of unknown gender are about 150cm long. A ranger named Pakorn Wongtanghin was the first to discover them.

This is an extremely rare creature in nature

The pink dolphin has an easily identifiable characteristic: its entire body is pale pink and its bill is long and slightly curved. Adult males are about 320cm long and females are 250cm long. This is a very rare animal with an average lifespan of 40 years.

Ao Phang Nga National Park is known for its beautiful lagoons and mangrove forests… is a place famous tourism. This is Thailand’s first national park to ban the use of plastic bags since April 2017. By June 2018, all national parks in the land of pagodas and towers issued a similar ban.

They are currently on the IUCN red list

Pink dolphins are considered the most strange and unique creatures in the world. They are friendly and sensitive and have lived in harmony with humans for centuries. But now experts say this animal is facing the risk of extinction in some places.

Pink dolphins are on the IUCN red list. In addition to Ao Phang Nga Bay, they also live in the Gulf of Thailand (Pacific Ocean) and the Andaman Islands (South Asia).
