The five-color tree is a wild plant that often grows wild on hills, mounds or along the roadside… Although it is a wild flower, the five-color tree has a strong vitality on basalt land, flowers bloom all year round with All kinds of colors.
It is known that five-colored plants have many uses and very good feng shui meanings. Realizing these hidden beauties, people in Gia Lai province have hunted for large, beautiful tree stumps to plant and create valuable five-color bonsai trees.
< p>There is more than a month left until the Lunar New Year, but many gardeners in Dak Ta Ley commune (Mang Yang, Gia Lai) have earned tens of millions of VND to even 100 million VND from selling five-color bonsai roots. Accordingly, from his passion for playing ornamental plants, Mr. Le Thanh Hoang (Head of the Dak Ta Ley Commune Ornamental Biology Association Club) has traveled to many areas to hunt for beautiful five-color tree stumps and then return to take care of them and graft flowers. Seeing the tree grow and bloom in all kinds of colors, many people have booked seasons. At this time, he continued to expand to sell and follow his passion for playing colorful flowers.
Mr. Hoang confided: “The movement of playing five-color flowers started from 2019 until now. At first I grew a little because of my passion, but the number of buyers was large so I expanded. Currently I am growing about 50 bonsai trees. From the beginning of 2020 until now, I have sold about 20 five-colored plants and earned about 30 million VND. On average, each tree costs 1-2 million VND. I sell mini bonsai trees of special shapes for about 4 million VND. I still have about 20 mini bonsai pots worth about 50 VND that will be released to the market this Tet 2021.
The movement of playing five colors has spread widely. Only in Dak Ta Ley commune (Mang Yang Gia Lai district) there are dozens of houses growing and caring for five colors for sale. Mr. Phuong Truong Huy (33 years old, Nhon Tho village, Dak Ta Ley Mang Yang) realized that the five roots were beautiful so he went to try planting them. For nearly 2 years, the tree has flowered beautifully and grown into bonsai roots of all shapes. Accordingly, Mr. Huy planted more than 100 bonsai trees. Wherever Mr. Huy plants, he will sell them all. Because of the great demand, he is continuing to expand his scale to target large markets.
Mr. Huy shared: “During Lunar New Year 2020, I sold about 30 roots and earned nearly 50 million VND. Because of fear of not having stock, many people ordered and asked me to take care of them to celebrate Tet in 2021. At the end of 2020, I also sold more than 50 trees and earned nearly 70 million VND Selling price ranges from 7 – 10 million VND.”.
“I am one of the first people in the commune to grow this five-colored tree. When it looked beautiful, people came to ask for instructions on how to plant and asked for flower varieties in the garden to graft. Because of increased demand, I have also expanded the scale and hired more people to work for the upcoming Tet seasons.” Mr. Huy added.
To have beautiful five-colored flowers, people often go to the hilly areas along the road to dig them. Then people cut off all the tops except the roots for nourishment. When the tree took root, they took the five-color flower variety originating from Thailand in Lam Dong, Da Lat, and Saigon provinces to graft. After 5-7 months of care, you will have a beautiful five-color tree that you like.
From a wildflower tree growing along the roadside, after a year of care, the five-color tree will be worth from 700,000 VND – 3 million VND. Due to market demand, people are favoring beautiful mini five-colored bonsai trees. That’s why the price of each tree of this type ranges from 4 – 8 million VND.
Mr. Tran Quoc Toan (26 years old) also owns 20 five-colored roots. In particular, he is also taking care of giant five-colored roots about 3 meters high and several people in diameter. Mr. Toan shared: “I noticed that this plant grows very quickly and has few diseases, and the flowers bloom continuously throughout the year. After many months of research, I decided to take care of it and create shapes to serve customers.” Come and admire. Because I’m still in the process of taking care of my body and not getting it as I want, I haven’t put it on the market yet.”.
< p>Talking with us, Mr. Nguyen Van Chan, Vice Chairman of Dak Ta Ley commune (Mang Yang Gia Lai) said: “The movement to care for five-color flowers emerged in 2019. After that, people asked to establish a club. Ornamental Association to exchange experiences and support plant varieties. Over the years, people have had high income from this natural plant. Communal spring festival exhibitions create conditions for people to display five-colored bonsai trees to create stable output. At the same time, promote the tree to customers inside and outside the province.”
