FIFA makes an important decision, Vietnamese football increases its chances of participating in the World Cup

On March 15, the Federation World Football (FIFA) has made important decisions on the two men’s and women’s U17 World Cup Finals tournaments. Accordingly From 2025, the men’s U17 tournament will double the number of participating teams from 24 to 48 teams, and the women’s tournament will increase from 16 to 24 teams.

FIFA has not yet announced the number of participation slots for the regions, but the number of participation slots for Asia is certain. will increase significantly. Previously, Asia had 4 places to participate in the U17 tournament World Cup for men and 3 spots to participate in the women’s tournament.

Qatar is the country chosen by FIFA to host the Final Round U17 World Cup from 2025 to 2029. It is worth mentioning that from 2025 the tournament will also be held annually instead of every two years.

The reason FIFA decided to increase the number of participating teams and held annually because we want young players to have many opportunities to compete at the world level. This promotes the development of youth football around the world. In the most recent men’s U17 World Cup, which took place in Indonesia, U17 Germany won the championship for the first time in history. And in the U17 women’s tournament, Spain won the championship.

The fact that FIFA changed the rules helps Vietnamese football has more opportunities to participate in the U17 World Cup. This is beneficial for the development of youth football in Vietnam.

Commenting on this issue, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) wrote: “Despite the detailed information about the change The number of slots for each region has not yet been announced, but certainly the number of Asian teams with the opportunity to participate in these tournaments will increase significantly.

This is a good sign. so that young teams, including Vietnam, have more opportunities to get closer to the ticket to the U17 World Cup Finals and the Women’s U17 World Cup Finals.
