From 2023, Korea will apply the E-7-S visa regime for foreign workers to work in the modern industrial sector mentioned above and high-income foreign workers (with income 3 times or more than the previous year’s GNI per capita of Korea).

When a foreign worker reaches a certain score according to the above calculation method, the Korean Ministry of Justice will issue an E-7-S visa. There are currently no specific instructions on the number of points achieved or allocation targets related to this visa level.

In 2023, the Korean side will also sharply increase the target for skilled human resources for E visas. -7-4.

Accordingly, E-9 E-10 and H-2 foreign workers working for more than 5 years in Korea are converted to E-7-4 visas according to the method Point calculation and annual allocation targets have been carried out from 2017 to present.

There have been 5,421 foreign workers converted to E-7-4 visas, of which 2,000 workers will be converted in 2022 alone.

Currently There are about 3,535 technical workers working in Korea, mainly in the field of electronics, information technology, mechanical welding and machine operation. These workers reside and work long-term in Korea (over 5 years) with a salary of 2,000 – 2,500 USD/month, equivalent to 45-50 million VND.

However The number of workers converted every year as above still cannot meet the needs of businesses. Therefore, in 2023, the target for converting to E-7-4 visas will increase to 5,000 people. At the same time, it will limit the issuance of visas to foreign workers who have resided illegally before.

In addition, Korea also changed the salary conditions when considering granting E visas. -7 for foreign workers working in small and medium enterprises from 80% or more to 70% or more of GNI per capita the previous year.
