In the final round of the blitz chess competition on the morning of November 19 (Vietnam time), Le Quang Liem played impressively. In 9 decisive blitz chess matches, Vietnamese players had 5 wins, 3 draws and lost only one game.
Le Quang Liem’s losing game was against grandmaster Sevian Samuel (American). With 6 5 points, Quang Liem is also the player with the best performance in the second round of blitz chess. Combined with the record of 4 wins, 1 draw, 4 losses in the first match, Quang Liem won 11 points in the blitz chess content.
The total result of the two rapid chess and blitz chess events, Le Quang Liem reached 20 points and finished in 3rd place overall. The number one player in Vietnam tied for third place with Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) when they both got 20 points.
Finishing in first and second place at the Saint Louis 2023 rapid and lightning chess tournament was Caruana, respectively. Fabiano (USA 21, 5 points) and Maxime Vachier Lagrave (France, 20, 5 points).
After this tournament, 6 of the 10 players participating in the St Louis tournament will stay in the US to play the Sinquefield Cup standard chess tournament. However, Quang Liem did not participate.
