The leaf edges are wavy and glossy green on both sides, growing alternately. The ginseng plant has small pink flowers arranged in sparse clusters growing at the top of the stem and branches. The ginseng flowers bloom in June-July. The small ground ginseng fruit is ash gray when ripe. Ground ginseng seeds are very small and flat, usually harvested around September-October.
