Xuan Quynh – Luu Quang Vu has never left his life
This morning (14 /8) in Hanoi took place a press conference introducing the musical poetry night “Love Stays” on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the death of the late poet/playwright couple Luu Quang Vu – Xuan Quynh and their children. This night of musical poetry is organized by the families of the two late poets in collaboration with the Rural Today newspaper, the Youth Theater and Vietnam Television.
During the press conference, journalist Luu Quang Dinh – younger brother of the late poet/playwright Luu Quang Vu shared that on August 29, 1988, the literary world, the theater world, and poetry lovers shocked by the sudden passing of the poet/playwright couple Luu Quang Vu – Xuan Quynh and his son Luu Quynh Tho in a tragic accident at the foot of Phu Luong bridge (Hai Duong). of 3 people became one event< /a> was big at that time.
And every anniversary On the day of their death, art units, theaters, stages… stage plays and poetic works to commemorate them. It is the pride of all family members and is also one gratitude to the deceased.
“ Mr. Luu Quang Vu died when he was only 40 years old, Xuan Quynh was 46 years old and Luu Quynh Tho was only 13 years old Years have passed, but the images of Mr. Vu, Ms. Quynh and Tho still live forever in the hearts of relatives, friends and colleagues… I think their souls on the other side of the world will also smile knowing they have never left. far from this life,” journalist Luu Quang Dinh shared.
Meritorious Artist Le Chuc – Vice President of the Vietnam Theater Artists Association, a very close friend of the late Poet/playwright Luu Quang Vu emotionally recalled: “Even though 30 years have passed, everything related to these three people that we all love and cherish is still full in my heart. And I believe it is also filled in the hearts of relatives and close friends of Luu Quang Vu and Xuan Quynh and Quynh Tho.
When she was alive, Quynh also planned to marry us. I don’t know who Quynh plans to choose among her three sons, but we have made a promise. We used to share poverty with each other. We used to support each other during difficult days. Therefore, their flesh and blood is also our flesh and blood.
30 years ago, I and some brothers like: Ngo Thao Ngoc Thu Do Hong Quan Van Toan… received 3 coffins of Vu – Quynh – Tho from Hai Duong and brought them to the funeral home of Viet Duc Hospital, but after that, teacher Dinh Quang negotiated with Viet Soviet Hospital so we brought them back. they went there.
I think everything about them seems to have a destiny. They completed the vocation of the three angels and returned to the place where we still remember them today.
I have emphasized many times about the predictability in Luu Quang Vu’s works when giving interviews to the media. Vu has shown us the value of predictability in Vu’s thoughts. That’s why Vu is still with us today. All three of them have never left their lives of nostalgia and what they left behind for the world.”
Writer Ngo Thao also shared: “Finally On the afternoon of August 29, Mr. Toan from the Vietnam Drama Theater ran to the headquarters of the Vietnam Writers Association and shouted in a broken voice, “The entire Quynh and Vu family died in an accident.” We were extremely shocked when we heard the news. At that time, Xuan Trinh Tat Thang and I… jumped into a private car and went down to Hai Duong in the afternoon.
When we brought all 3 people inside When we were burning incense at the Hai Duong funeral home, the incense bowl suddenly burst into flames. Doan Dung banged his head against the wall and blamed why the three of us left. That is a memory I can never forget.
When we brought them back to Hanoi, there were thousands of artists and fans standing there. Phu Doan Street was packed to welcome them. In general, at that time, this was a very shocking event.
Recently, many articles have mentioned the predictability of Luu Quang Vu’s play, but I I think that anticipation lies in each person’s reception. When you create a complete work, its light – its essence – will be read anew. Therefore, the topicality of most of Luu Quang Vu’s works is very clear.
But beyond topicality is the remaining “gem” to Every time we lift it up, something new emerges. Reviewing “The Butcher Truong Ba’s Soul” “The Light Source in Life” “Blue Chrysanthemums in the Swamp” “The King Who Turned into a Tiger”… we all see many things in here that we recognize today There are things in life that are not right as we once harshly criticized Luu Quang Vu’s plays.
Today, even though it has been 30 years, we We still remember Luu Quang Vu – Xuan Quynh because they left us real gems. Whenever we pick up a real pearl, we will see new sparkling lights that tell us about the good things in life.”
There have been scary predictions about death
Sharing on the sidelines of the meeting, critic Pham Xuan Nguyen also said that the Playwright Luu Quang Vu had very scary predictions about his death that people only saw later. In Luu Quang Vu’s diary dated November 8, 1964, there is a passage: “It is very possible that something unreasonable will come to cut off my life.
Death – I’m not afraid of it, but if I die now it would be a waste. I haven’t done anything for 17 years (when writing these lines, based on her age, Luu Quang Vu was just 17 years old) and then he dies? God of death, I don’t need much. In 20 years, when I’ve paid off my debt, I can consider having done something with my life and will have no regrets when I close my eyes Just 20 years…”
Not only shown in the diary entries in the poem “That song is still unfinished”, one of the last poems Luu Quang Vu wrote for his beloved wife. My book also has sentences that make the reader “shudder”: “At the last minute, my hand was still in my hand/ I had the happiest days/ I drank both strong alcohol and bitter wine/ Went to the end of the road / After boundless, even though there is only boundless / The sails have arrived and the rice fields have been harvested.
Critic Pham Xuan Nguyen said that both Xuan Quynh and Luu Quang Vu “both had a premonition of death.” And on that “fateful trip” after 15 years of being together, they continued to be together forever with their immortal love.
