Loss of billions of dollars, still determined to conquer wild boar
34 years old, owns a wild boar farm of thousands of square meters, exporting over 1,000 pigs to the market each year, bringing high income. But few people know that, to get that attractive revenue, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dat (residing in Nhon My commune, Ke Sach district, Soc Trang) had to go through two failures and have to go into debt.
Conversing with reporterDan Tri next to the house next to the wild boar farm, Mr. Dat tells about the turbulent process of starting a business The wind, in his words, is “three ears”.
22 years old, after graduating, Mr. Dat applied for job at a restaurant in Can Tho as a manager.
After 5 years of working together, he saved up quite a bit of capital and cooperated with a friend to invest in a model of raising wild boar and clean vegetables. After a long time of contributing capital but not seeing the expected profits, he withdrew from the group to start his own business.
“Around 2018, I opened a wild boar farm with available breeds because I previously contributed capital business already. After investing in barns, African swine fever and wild boars all died and there were no animals left.
In 2019, I continued to regroup, thinking that since I had experience, it would be okay. However, two failed African swine fever outbreaks caused me to lose more than 2 billion VND, part of which was money. “I had to save up the rest to borrow from relatives,” Mr. Dat said.
Depressed by debt, Mr. Dat moved to Can Tho to continue working at a restaurant, but his passion for starting a business and owning it was deeply ingrained in his thinking. Just a few months later, Mr. Dat returned home to raise wild boars for the third time.
Unique breeding process
Learning from the failures of this re-herd, 9X focuses on disease vaccination, barn hygiene and choosing appropriate care regimens according to the wild characteristics of wild boar species.
also not stressed” Mr. Dat said.
In addition, the guy also has a different feeding method. He does not use industrial feed, instead he supplements protein for wild boar with a mixture of wort and soybean residue. While the pigs “roam” in the garden, he will feed some fruits such as mango, star apple, watermelon, guava…
“This fruit is not consumed by the granary so I collect it. Utilizing the above foods to feed wild boars helps the pork meat to be low in fat and not smelly while also increasing the animals’ resistance.
Furthermore, this way of raising animals It also saves input costs, each pig only costs a few thousand dong per day,” Mr. Dat revealed the secret to raising wild boars.
p>From the initial 20 wild boar parents, he has now raised over 200 commercial pigs at the farm. The previous outstanding debt was also resolved with a profit to cover life.
According to 9X, wild boars give birth to 2 litters each year, each litter has 6-10 offspring depending on the breeding method. Breeding pigs for sale reach about 25kg/head while commercial pigs depend on customer demand. Currently, the price of pork pigs ranges from 130,000 to 150,000 VND/kg, the price of breeding pigs is twice as high as that of meat pigs.
It is known that from 2021 until now, Mr. Dat’s facility has provided over 1,000 pigs/year for a profit of 500,000 to 800,000 VND/head. Wild boar like him has provided in many localities such as Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Vinh Long…
The farm also supplies wild boar to consumers in Can Tho City, restaurants, bars and especially roasted wild boar. To expand output, Mr. Dat also built channels on the Youtube Facebook TikTok platform…
Regarding pig breeds, the farm owner also covers output according to the farmer’s ability so that people can have profit.
Sharing the secret to success 9X Soc Trang said that after every failure and stumble, he will choose to let go of everything to travel until his mind relaxes and finds the “guideline. “I’ll go back and start again.
