Musician Chu Minh – author of the song “He is the faith that will surely win” – passed away

Professor musician Chu Minh’s birth name is Trieu Dat Hien, born on January 5, 1931 in Hanoi. He grew up in a family. Well-off civil servant. From a young age, musician Chu Minh showed his passion for music.

At the age of 11, Chu Minh started learning the violin and spent most of his time playing this instrument at home. besides learning culture.

The August Revolution took place successfully in Vietnam, but soon after the Indochina war broke out in the country Chu Minh volunteered to participate in the revolution (from 1947 – 1950). Also during this period, he began using the pen name Chu Minh to compose songs including Viet Trung Soviet and Border Victory.< /p>

After that, he was sent to study a short-term intermediate music program in Wuhan (China). From 1961 – 1965, he continued to study Composition at the North Central Conservatory of Music Kinh.

After graduating from university, he returned to the Vietnam School of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) to teach composition and also worked as a music director. in charge of the School’s Theory – Composition – Conducting Department.

He continued to compose vocal and instrumental music, thereby gradually creating his own compositional style. He is one of the few contemporary Vietnamese musicians who is successful in both vocal and instrumental music.

He was honored to meet Uncle Ho 5 times and was awarded the highest award in literature and arts named Uncle Ho, musician Chu Minh is the one who wrote a successful song about Uncle Ho. In particular, we must mention the song He is the faith that will win released 54 years ago. 

When he was still alive, musician Chu Minh admitted that composing about Uncle Ho was not easy because the music and lyrics had to portray the image of a great leader but also very simple. .

The song He is the belief that will win meets that requirement and has been deeply engraved in the minds of the Vietnamese people and peace-loving people around the world in for more than half a century.

In his compositions, musician Chu Minh has always promoted the national spirit to make listeners more proud of their homeland. He composed many songs about Uncle Ho with respect and admiration from his heart and mind such as The mountain water is your name. On that day, you walked miles and miles for centuries. Musician Chu Minh was awarded the 2001 State Award by the State of Vietnam with the Order of the Resistance Against the French, Third Class. War against America, Second Class Labor Medal. In 2017, he was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize in the field of Literature and Arts.
