Mutant pythons cost “thousands of dollars” in the West

Talking about distinguishing ground pythons from reticulated pythons, mutant pythons from regular pythons, Mr. Quang shared:  “Distinguishing between ground pythons and reticulated pythons It’s not difficult for households to raise, just rely on the skin pattern on the back and eyes of each type. Specifically, reticulated pythons usually have red eyes with a long, small, light yellow or brown head. The head has a cross-shaped line or dotted line in the middle of the head with a thin dark gray streak running down the middle from the snout to the nape connecting with the mark on the back… while ground pythons have mostly black eyes with striped edges on both sides of the head…”.

According to Mr. Thai, python breeds are only priced at 260,000 – 300,000 VND/head, while ground pythons, if mutated and newly hatched, will cost from 2 – 3 million VND/head; From 3 kg or more will cost 8 – 10 million VND/head. Newly hatched mutant reticulated pythons will cost 6  – 7 million VND/head; 4 – 5 kg is over 10 million VND; The one weighing 15 kg is 20 – 30 million VND, and if it is a white python, it will cost about 25 – 40 million VND/head.

Many farmers and traders buying pythons explain: Mutated pythons have high prices because of the market. of this species are mainly foreign and sold to people who have money to buy them as ornaments, so they are very popular. Besides, there are not many pythons of this type in the country. Mutant pythons are rare because for a facility that raises several thousand pythons, they can only find 1-2 pythons, even if they raise them for decades, they still won’t get any.

Currently, mutant pythons have a very high price but the quantity is only limited. to a limited extent. Therefore, traders in the Western provinces who hear that there are mutant pythons will come to bargain prices to buy them.
