Today, Dan Tri newspaper published an article about a situation in which the driver of a 16-seat vehicle turned on the hazard warning lights and then “made a right turn without knowing it”. The clown looked around and knocked down the motorcyclist. traffic like that is not uncommon in Vietnam and I think that perhaps only Vietnamese people have such a strange way of using hazard lights.
If If you travel on highways, you must have seen passenger cars speeding wildly into the emergency lane and turning on the hazard lights. I don’t know what right they have to think that turning on the emergency lights means they can drive recklessly like that, always passing left and then right. If they encounter a vehicle that does not give way, these vehicles will “near” close and honk loudly.
Even on crowded streets, there are still drivers who turn on their hazard lights and think they can do it. Prioritize and quickly zoom from the inner lane to the outer lane. It’s true that everyone has urgent moments, but in the midst of such dense traffic, you can’t go any faster. Not to mention, turning sideways like that can easily cause a collision.
But that’s not all. Hazard lights in Vietnam are also used by many people to… go straight</ strong>. That’s when drivers are about to enter intersections, they turn it on and then turn it off when passing through. Do these people think that the one-sided turn signal is used to turn, but the “two-sided turn signal” is used to go straight through the intersection or into a roundabout?
I have driven several times behind vehicles with hazard lights on like that when entering an intersection and was very uncomfortable because I couldn’t tell if they intended to turn left or turn. Right. If you look from the side of the car, you can only see one light, causing you to misjudge the situation. This type of use of hazard lights is very common in provinces and non-central areas.
In addition, hazard lights are also used in Vietnam in innocent ways such as to pass other parked vehicles (without dangerous clown)… Are drivers not taught about the effects and tasks of this type of light, or do they deduce and abuse it themselves?
Actually, right from the name, Speaks about functions and tasks: danger warning lights. Its icon inside car is a button with a red triangle. That means hazard lights are used in dangerous situations, such as when you have to make an emergency stop and have a sudden accident ahead that makes it impossible to move…
In addition, it can be used in some other cases. but don’t abuse it. That is when backing up in a crowded and cramped place, parking in a dark place and occupying the path, or when it is raining heavily and in dense fog… However, it must be reiterated that these situations require limited use and only turn on the vehicle. Stop when you see that your vehicle may be dangerous to others.
I hope that Vietnamese drivers will return the correct name to the hazard light and use it properly. That not only brings safety to everyone when participating in traffic but is also civilized in driving cars.
