A saying that may not be new but is always a painful problem for the education sector in particular and society The country in general. All things and phenomena are in common connection with each other, and the fact that “masters and masters” are being popularized more and more quickly has unintentionally created problems. This is the time when students across the country have just finished taking the National High School Exam, hoping that they will choose the right direction in the era of open integration University is not the only path!
There have been many people who have illusions about the development of Vietnamese education when there are individual students… winning medals at competitions. international competition or young researchers working at international organizations. I would like to say that that is just a worthy reward for the tireless efforts of those individuals. It is not possible! is a great mirror reflecting an entire book education. Furthermore, the development of an entire socio-economy cannot rely on a few individuals, but rather it is the combined strength of an entire collective. Let’s consider together some of the following aspects:
First, both bachelor’s and doctorate degrees are the offspring of the country’s education sector. If a country wants to develop sustainably, it needs to have a developed education system to create a premise. And we do not deny the efforts of the education sector, especially university and post-graduate education. All basic strategic policies are good, but the implementation process is not as expected when the education sector produces too many universities and too many bachelors, masters, and doctorates. Then an immediate consequence that everyone can see is unemployment and jockeying for power. And is the education sector responsible?
Second Bachelor – a powerful force with more than 225,000 unemployed people and that number is still increasing every day. It seems that we clearly see the gap in recruitment and training but lack a way to solve that problem. That has made it even more difficult for “nominees” to find jobs. Although we know that the problem comes from the internal strength of this force (skills, mental level, attitude, experience…), but we also need an open-minded mechanism from businesses to companies. public officials to create conditions for that force to challenge itself with the passion and enthusiasm of youth. Because nothing is impossible, we are just afraid that people will block each other’s development opportunities.
Third, Doctor – the number of 24,000 people is not small compared to a country of 90 million people. And we do not deny that some PhDs have real scientific research capacity and make significant contributions to the country. But having said that, it must be said again that most people study for graduate studies just for vanity. That is, they study for a doctorate only for their position and need for advancement. But for research purposes, it is rare.
Thereby we see an interesting situation that the mass production of bachelor’s and doctorates has made: This side is worried every time they come Graduation season try to find a job to avoid unemployment. On the other side, leisurely trying to “advance” to become a “doctor” with friends and colleagues to hold positions of power, not to become a doctor for the sake of genuine science. Is it a consequence of a book-based education in a society that still focuses on degrees?
Such discussion helps each of us clearly see the problem to find a solution, not have to talk nonsense. And surely we all have one question: What are those more than 24,000 PhDs doing? Where? Because once you cite specific data to prove that this agency is a business unit, it is considered a fait accompli. But whether the root of the problem can be resolved is another matter.
The production of those bachelors and doctorates is inevitable. However, how to ensure quality for the development process is the concern of the majority of the public. How many billions of VND are spent on scientific research activities every year? How many billion dong does the education sector operate? So how can the number of PhDs and bachelors have the same goal for the development of this S-shaped country and not just “contrast” </ i>each other and because of “vanity” nostalgia.
