On April 12, Vinh Thanh District Police, Can Tho City temporarily detained Nguyen Van Tuan (38 years old, residing in Vinh Thanh District) to investigate the act of impersonating a police officer and fraudulently appropriating property.
According to initial investigation results, Tuan is unemployed. In 2019, Tuan was administratively fined 4 million VND for using support tools against regulations and illegally storing and using uniforms with badges and badges reserved for the People’s Police force.
In early 2023, Tuan continued to go online to buy police uniforms with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and fake police cards. The subject wore a purchased police uniform, took many pictures and then posted them on social networks “for color”.
With the “Police Colonel code” on social networks, Tuan texted two women to get to know them. Female is a single mother in Ho Chi Minh City. The subject defrauded the victims of love and money many times. The police determined that Tuan had appropriated nearly 250 million VND from the victims.
