The British Royal Family late on September 19 (this morning Vietnam time) announced: “The Queen was buried next to the Duke of Edinburgh at the King’s Memorial Chapel George VI”.
The King George VI Memorial Chapel is located in Windsor Castle next to the grounds of St George’s Chapel. This is also where other members of the British royal family are buried.
According to Guardian after the official funeral was held at Westminster Abbey in London at noon on September 19 with the attendance of thousands guests Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin was carried to Windsor Castle to prepare for the funeral ceremony.
The initial funeral rites took place in St George’s Chapel with about 800 guests. In this ceremony, there is a ritual of breaking the scepter, representing the end of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The two pieces of the scepter were then placed on top of the Queen’s coffin.
At the end of the ceremony, the Queen’s coffin was temporarily transferred to the Royal Crypt below the Albert Memorial Chapel while awaiting burial at King George VI Memorial Chapel. The entire funeral was broadcast live by British media.
On the evening of the same day, the burial ceremony took place privately with only royal members present.
