Going back to Khanh Loi commune, Yen Khanh district (Ninh Binh), asked Mr. Dinh Xuan Thuc’s house (75 years old), no one knew. Over the past decade, he has been famous for his Dong Tao chicken farm, which earns billions of profits each year.
At his age, few people choose to retire and retire, but Mr. Thuc is still very healthy and alert. He took care of the king’s chickens with “giant” legs as a joy every day.
Mr. Thuc said that before retiring, he worked for many years at the Irrigation College in Hung Yen. (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) and worked as Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Principal of the school.
“In 2009, when he returned to his hometown to live, he saw that his children’s jobs were not stable while his strength was lacking. I’m still healthy and have a passion for doing business, so I researched and tested many models. At first, I raised pheasants and fish. These types of livestock also brought income but were not very effective,” Mr. Thuc telling.
Remembering the days when he lived at school in the land of Hung Yen, there was a type of Dong Tao chicken that only kings could use in the past. He asked his acquaintances to find out. Seeing that no one had raised chickens in Ninh Binh, he boldly bought about 200 chicken breeds to raise.
“Unexpectedly, from then on I fell in love with this type of chicken with legs as big as an elephant’s. The first batch of chickens and the next batches of chickens are raised smoothly. The chickens grow quickly without any diseases. Each time I sell 200-300 broiler chickens. The price of this specialty chicken is many times higher than that of regular chicken, so the profit is big,” the 75-year-old man shared.
Since 2012, when he had experience raising Dong Tao chickens, Mr. Thuc invested in a barn to increase the price of chickens. From a few hundred chickens, he expanded the farming area to more than 3,000 chickens, in addition to maintaining 2,000 chickens per batch, the flock of laying hens is maintained to nearly 1,500 chickens for breeding.
“There are very few people with this type of chicken. raised so there is a very potential market for raising each litter, traders come to buy all that litter. Every year my family sells 8-10 tons of broiler chickens with prices ranging from 95,000 VND to 120,000 VND/kg. The chickens are sold in 4 batches each year with an amount of about 70,000 chickens,” the chicken farm owner revealed.
Breast chickens are being sold directly by Mr. Thuc to traders at the wholesale market in Hanoi. The chicks are sold to large-scale farms in Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh… Mr. Thuc calculates that each year, after all costs, the family earns a profit of about one billion VND.
The owner of a chicken farm with thousands of chickens shares that Dong Tao chickens have special characteristics. The rooster has big legs, thick skin and little fat. The rooster’s meat is crispy and the hen’s meat is sweet, chewy and fragrant, so it is very popular in the market.
“Raising this type of king chicken is not difficult. To raise well, disease prevention is the top priority. The barn also needs to be cleaned and lined with microbial bedding before raising. During the raising process, I regularly replace rice husks to clean the environment and feed the chickens with safe food, so the chickens grow quickly and soon reach the standard weight,” Mr. Thuc shared.
Since he is familiar with farming and has good hands, Mr. Thuc has not had any difficulties in the past 10 years. . Therefore, many people come to visit his family’s chicken farm to learn and buy breeds for breeding. Customers were instructed by Mr. U80 to share wholeheartedly to develop the economy from this specialty chicken.
