Sergio Busquets officially followed Messi to join Inter Miami

Sergio Busquets has been offered by Barcelona to extend his contract for another year. The Spanish midfielder is also eagerly sought after by wealthy clubs in Saudi Arabia.

However, the striker who made 143 appearances for the Spanish team rejected both of the above options to join Inter Miami this summer. Sergio Busquets’ decision comes from his desire to be a teammate with Messi once again at MLS.

Inter Miami awarded the champion World Cup 2010 contract valid until summer 2025 with option to extend for another year.

Busquets was Messi’s teammate in the Barcelona shirt from 2008 until Messi had to leave in tears in 2021 to go to Paris Saint-Germain.

When they were both playing for Barcelona together has won 8 La Liga championships, 7 King’s Cups and 3 Champions Leagues.

In addition to Sergio Busquets, Inter Miami President David Beckham is aiming to recruit another former Barcelona player, Jordi Alba. The star is expected to make a decision on his future in the next few weeks after winning the UEFA Nations League with Spain. According to ESPN Alba is also said to be considering offers from Atletico Inter Milan and Saudi Arabia.
