Mr. Nguyen Van Hue (working at North Thang Long Industrial Park) said that instead of the whole family going back to his hometown to visit his family on this occasion, he stayed to work on December 31 and January 1, of which on January 1 he received 300% of his salary.
He Hue added: “My family hasn’t been back to my hometown for a long time, so this time we decided to go home to visit our parents. But I decided to stay and work part-time so I could double and triple my money and save on the commute. Moreover, the cost of living is now very expensive, the children’s education is increasing day by day, the cost of boarding houses, weddings, etc. is increasing without any decrease.
According to Mr. Hue’s calculations : “The couple’s monthly salary is tens of millions, but it’s still not enough for the children’s education and the couple’s living expenses. If you have money to accumulate, if you don’t have a sick child, you’ll have to rush to borrow money and then get into debt. In the new year, I just hope that our workers’ salaries will be increased commensurate with their abilities labor spent”.
Ms. Do Thi Linh – from Tuyen Quang – who has worked at North Thang Long Industrial Park for many years, is also one of the “workaholic” workers. She rarely goes home or travels on vacation Tet New Year’s calendar because she is busy “plowing” to earn extra income during the holidays when the salary is calculated double or triple the normal day.
Ms. Linh said: “Even if If I have a few days off, I just go to sleep even when I go back to my hometown, so I’d rather spend that time working to earn some extra income than wasting time like that. I’m very sorry. Young people work hard to save money because the life of a worker away from home has many things to cover.
Having said that, Ms. Linh’s eyes still couldn’t help but feel sad during the New Year. He is not allowed to visit his parents. Behind the smile when analyzed from the above “economic” perspective are probably tears flowing back inside. Even though it’s just New Year’s Eve, who doesn’t want to go back to their hometown?
Meanwhile, there are some workers who have planned to use these days off to go out. Mr. Linh (working at Yamaha Company in Bac Thang Long Industrial Park) shared that he will travel to Sa Pa with friends where he works.
He was excited: “The whole year is busy working to make money to pay for the expenses.” Life has no time to breathe, let alone go out. Sometimes friends invite me to go on a picnic on weekends, but I’m so tired all week that I don’t have the energy to go. On this occasion, I had a few days off so I decided to travel. There are only a few long vacations throughout the year, so we workers have to take advantage of them to find fun for ourselves, instead of hanging around work and renting a room is very cramped.”
