When he arrived at the gas station, Mr. Manh was informed by the staff that he was transporting escaped inmates. At this time, he coordinated with the gas station staff to pretend to go to the bathroom to “buy time” waiting for the police to arrest the escaped prisoner.
However, about 5 minutes after Before the police arrived, prisoner De climbed into the driver’s seat and stole a taxi from the gas station. When arriving at Ha Linh commune, Ha Trung district (about 5km from the gas station), De left the taxi on Highway 217 and continued to flee.
Mr. Manh said the taxi was being picked up. The police detained him for investigation. Initial examination showed that before leaving the car, the prisoner took Mr. Manh’s phone and more than 800,000 VND in cash from the car.
“I have more than 10 years of experience years of driving a taxi but this is the first time encountering this case. When I knew I was transporting prisoners, I was very scared. Luckily, the gas station staff informed me in time, otherwise we wouldn’t have known what would have happened,” Mr. Manh said.
