Early in the morning at the end of July, on the way to the forest to look for medicinal herbs, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang and his wife, Ms. La Thi Tham ( 40 years old, in Binh Khe commune, Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province) accidentally discovered a calf that was not steady on its feet and was trembling and nestled in the bushes.

According to Ms. Tham, people Local people often release buffaloes in the forest to let them feed themselves, sometimes they only visit once every few months. Thinking that the mother buffalo was looking for food nearby, Ms. Tham and her husband left.
“But near evening when we went down the mountain, my husband and I still saw the calf there with its legs shaking. We got closer and the animal suddenly ran away. came and nuzzled my husband as if asking for food. At this point we thought maybe the animal had been left by its mother at the edge of the forest,” Ms. Tham said.
There was some sugar cane with her. Tham quickly mixed it with spring water for the calf to drink for strength.
“In the morning, my husband and I thought maybe the mother buffalo left her calf there to search for food because this species does not leave its calf to go anywhere. But in the evening, when I heard the sound of my husband and I’s motorbike, the calf immediately came running.
Before that, my husband and I saved some road and thought that if we came back and saw the calf, we would give it to them. That night, my husband posted messages in groups in Quang Ninh to find the calf’s owner.
However, 4 days later, no one came to claim him home to raise” Ms. Tham shared.
After making that decision, Ms. Tham and her husband recorded a video all the way from the forest to their house, fearing that people would see them and say he was wrong. she stole the calf.
The female woodsman shared that since being brought home, the baby calf has adapted very quickly. Seemingly afraid of being abandoned again, the animal kept clinging to the people in the house and wouldn’t let go. Especially with Mr. Quang, the owner wherever he went, the baby calf followed each step and rubbed his body.
8 days later Ms. Tham and her husband received a phone call from a local person accepting the calf. When the couple was about to return it, the owner suddenly changed his decision to leave the animal in the care of the lumberjack family due to concerns that the calf brought home would not be compatible with the buffalo herd at home.
From then on, the abandoned calf officially became a member of Ms. Tham’s family, named Map.
