On the evening of March 6, Lai Chau Provincial Police said that at 7:30 p.m. on the same day, the authorities arrested Lo Van Xuom (born 2001, in Sin Ho district), while he was hiding in the area. Na Ban village, Than Thuoc commune, Tan Uyen district. Xom is the suspect who killed Ms. L. on the afternoon of March 5.
At the investigation agency, Lo Van Xuom confessed that since the end of 2023, while working as a hired laborer in Hanoi, Xom and Ms. Lo Thi L. (born 2003, in Nam Can commune, Tan Uyen district) is in a love relationship.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, the two went to Ms. L.’s house in Tan Uyen district to live together. After that, Xom and his lover bought a motorbike in installments. However, during the Xom Tet holiday, he pawned the above motorbike at a store in Sin Ho district. Since then, there have been frequent conflicts and arguments between Ms. L. and Xom.
On the afternoon of March 5, Xom came back from drinking in Phieng Ang village and was cursed and kicked out of his house by Ms. L. me. During the two people’s argument, Xom took a sharp knife and slashed Ms. L’s neck twice, causing the victim to suffer acute blood loss and die on the spot.
After committing the crime, Xom took the weapon and escaped from the scene and hid up a tree hill. Because he saw the police force surrounding him tightly, the subject did not dare to go down to the street to escape.
According to the police, after hiding, Xom tried to commit suicide but failed.
Previously Lai Chau Provincial Police mobilized more than 400 people to set up roadblocks to arrest suspect Lo Van Xuom.
