This is a cave located on the southwest side of Utah Lake. Explorer Dale Green was the first person to explore this cave in 1960.
The reason explorer Dale gave the cave the name Nutty Putty is because the extremely narrow space inside is mainly composed of made of clay. But this motivated John even more to conquer.
John said he had not explored caves in a long time so he wanted to take advantage of this vacation to experience it. After that, he wanted to devote all his time to medicine and his family.

John’s younger brother Josh was the first to discover the dangerous situation. He saw John’s legs sticking out and tried to pull, but it made John slide deeper inside. At that time, John was stuck at a depth of about 30m above the ground and about 120m in the Nutty Putty cave.
The extraordinary rescue

But it only lasted a short time. The rope system plugged into the cave was made of unstable clay, so it loosened and John fell deeper. . His large body almost occupied the entire space in the cave. He fell into a head-down position, so the team had no way to rescue him.
