Will converting a mechanical handbrake into an electronic handbrake be refused registration?

Electronic handbrake is gradually becoming standard equipment on cars priced around 1 billion VND in the Vietnamese market. Previously, this equipment often only appeared on cars luxury car models, but currently there is a trend of installing electronic hand brakes for older models or cheap cars that use mechanical hand brakes. So when changing the mechanical brake to an electronic hand brake car has registration slip Check or not?

Talking with PV Vehicle Traffic, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hai, Director of Registration Center 29-03S (My Dinh, Hanoi), said that for cars, there are some things that cannot be improved. generation and braking system is one of them. Many people look at the registration certificate and do not see the type of brake, thinking they can replace the mechanical handbrake with an electronic handbrake, but in reality, if they change the type of handbrake, registration will be refused.

< p>Because the registration centers’ systems clearly state what type of brakes the car uses, such as drum disc brakes… or mechanical or electronic hand brakes. Therefore, if a car has an electronic handbrake that is different from the manufacturer’s type certificate, it will not be accepted by the registry. Converting a mechanical handbrake to an electronic handbrake is considered a structural change that is not the same as the manufacturer’s design.

Therefore, even before the first registration, the vehicle owner must replace it. Mechanical handbrake to electronic handbrake will also be refused registration.

When going for registration, the registration staff will usually know the year of manufacture of the vehicle and from there compare it with the registration certificate. The manufacturer’s type certificate is sent to the Vietnam Register to know what type of handbrake the vehicle uses. If the vehicle has the wrong type of handbrake, the vehicle will be immediately refused registration.

In the past, there was a situation where some vehicles changed the structure of the braking system to use drum brakes but arbitrarily changed it. Changing to a disc brake that was different from the manufacturer’s type certificate was refused registration and forced to replace the drum brake. Therefore, car owners absolutely should not change from a mechanical handbrake to an electric handbrake to ensure safety when using the vehicle and when registering it is most convenient.
