Rumors suggest that Xiaomi is in the midst of developing an innovative smartphone featuring a triple-folding screen, set to be unveiled at MWC 2025.
According to tech site GSMArena, sources from China reveal that Xiaomi is advancing its development of a tri-fold smartphone. This groundbreaking device, part of the Mix series, is expected to be showcased as a prototype in late February 2025 during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. At the same event, Xiaomi is also anticipated to unveil its flagship smartphone, the 15 Ultra.
The trend of foldable smartphones is gaining momentum, with numerous manufacturers entering the fray. Consequently, tech companies are striving to push the envelope with even more revolutionary designs, such as the tri-folding smartphone.
Huawei is rumored to be leading the pack with its own foldable device, which may be announced as early as September. Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei Consumer, has been spotted using this device on two separate occasions.
Reports indicate that Huawei’s phone has successfully passed a rigorous 28μm durability test, designed to assess the screen’s resilience and visibility after multiple folds. However, it’s likely that this device will be available only in China and in limited quantities.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also rumored to be working on a similar model. However, the company appears to be focused on perfecting the slimness of foldable smartphones, with no immediate plans for a market release.
